Possums fundraiser to celebrate Oscars Feb. 23

February 12, 2019

All the nominations are announced. As tension mounts for the Academy Awards show, Possum Point Players will host “Let It Go: A Night at the Oscars” at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23. The evening will feature entertainment, food and drink, and a live auction of exclusive items.

Set just a day before the televised evening of Oscar presentations, “Let It Go” celebrates Oscar-winning music with an original revue that takes attendees backstage as well as front row center to hear some of their favorite “stars” croon song winners as recent as “Let It Go” and as memorable as “White Christmas.”

Possums’ Night at the Oscars kicks off with a stroll down the red carpet and a hearty helping of hors d’oeuvres, plus a complimentary cocktail or two.

Whether audience members are in black tie or black goth, all should be prepared to smile for the paparazzi and maybe pose with a larger-than-life Oscar statue.

Remember, Bjork swanned about in feathers and Gaga wore metallic Versace; attendees are encouraged to dress as they please while exercising a little decorum and modesty. Included in the evening’s set will be a live auction of terrific high-value items. Guests can bid on offerings such as a resort vacation location, designer accessories, jewelry and a one-of-a-kind handmade collector’s item quilt.

“Let It Go” was created and directed by Donna de Kuyper of Lewes and Doug Yetter of Rehoboth Beach. Yetter is also music director. Cast members of the revue include Claudius Bowden, Georgetown; Max Dick and John Hulse, Rehoboth Beach; and Dulcena Kemmerlin and Lorraine Steinhoff, Milford. Also appearing are Dawn Conaway, Seaford; Kyra Cutsail, Laurel; Alonzo Dixon, Bridgeville; Val Harmon, Millsboro; Cheryl Graves, Rehoboth Beach; and John Zinzi, Milton.

Georgetown residents Jim Hartzell and Don Megee are Oscar night hosts.

Tickets are limited, and cost is $80 per person or $150 for a couple. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 302-856-4560 or go to www.possumpointplayers.org.
