Possums to hold ‘How to Succeed’ musical comedy auditions Jan. 6-7

December 15, 2018

Possum Point Players announce auditions for Frank Loesser and Abe Burrow’s musical comedy, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” co-directed by Lorraine Steinhoff and John H. Hulse, at 7 p.m., Sunday and Monday, Jan. 6 and 7,  at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown.

The cast requires 14 men and 12 women. Auditions are open to all actors and actresses, and no prior experience is required. For detailed character descriptions, go to www.PossumPointPlayers.org.

Auditions consist of performing one musical piece of no more than 16 bars, a short choreography session and readings from the script. Singing without accompaniment or along with a taped performer is discouraged. There will be a piano accompanist, and those auditioning are encouraged to bring CDs.

The cast must be available for all show dates, which are Friday to Sunday, April 5 to 7 and 12 to 14.

Those needing more information, or unable to attend the audition but interested in auditioning or being part of the production crew, should contact John H. Hulse at 302-245-4147 or Lorraine Steinhoff at 302-745-0235.

The story follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a handbook as his guide to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant company man, the office party, backstabbing coworkers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love. This is the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning, irreverent and tuneful satire of big business in 1961, jam-packed with sly, swift and sharp humor.
