Presentation set July 17 for Galapagos photography journey with Jay Fleming

July 6, 2018

Photography is a significant component of travel these days, and Rehoboth's Accent On Travel team members are proud to be leaders in this capacity. In April 2019, they are partnering and co-hosting an exclusive custom journey cruise/tour by charter luxury yacht with award-winning photographer Jay Fleming, son of National Geographic photographer Kevin Fleming. This Galapagos-bound adventure will be limited to just 14 travelers who are eager to hone their amateur or professional photographic skills on a once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunity.

With his work featured in over 30 publications, Fleming is well known for his wildlife, scenic, underwater and local watermen photography, making him an exemplary and exciting leader through the Galapagos Islands. Accent on Travel owner, expedition travel specialist and past Galapagos traveler Annette Stellhorn said, "Seeing the Galapagos Islands through a professional's eye is as good as it gets. I truly wish I could take this journey with him!"

Stellhorn said, "The Galapagos Islands are already a wish-list destination for travelers from all around the world. This trip ups the experience, offering travelers Jay's photographic tips and insights, along with a local guide, as travelers take the insider tours in Quito Equator, stay at the Finch Bay Hotel in the Galapagos to visit the local fishermen and crafters, and enjoy seven nights on the private charter Galapagos Islands Cruise. This authentic expedition could also be considered a luxury expedition because of the boutique accommodations and exceptional hosted experiences throughout the 14 days of travel."

Fleming holds high-touch popular photography workshops in Annapolis, Md. He became interested in taking the workshops abroad after seeing local professional Carolyn Watson Photography return happily from hosting her own group to the Galapagos Islands through Accent on Travel. Fleming reached out to the owner to craft his own Workshop Abroad Journey in hopes of starting a series around the world.

Fleming said, "I travel on my own quite a bit, and there are places I would love to share with passionate photographers. This trip fulfills that desire."

Each day includes expert photography workshops with Fleming as he teaches travelers how to hone their skills and understand lighting, and gives tips and trips to blend with the immediate photo ops. By the end of the two weeks, travelers should not only be able to handle their cameras better, but should also have a better appreciation for the outdoors, remote lands and species rarely seen.

The trip is open to the public. A complimentary presentation will be held Tuesday, July 17, at the Accent on Travel offices at the corner of Rehoboth Avenue and Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach. There is plenty of free parking. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Jay Fleming, view some of the award-winning photography taken by Carolyn Watson Photography during the earlier group's journey, and hear more about the travel opportunity. Space is limited and RSVP is required. For more information, call 302-278-6100.
