Program resources help veterans, military spouses get employed

February 1, 2022

The U.S. Department of Labor Veterans' Employment & Training Service has a mission to prepare America's veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses for meaningful careers.

American Job Centers, or Career One Stop Centers, are funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and provide free assistance to veterans, military spouses and job seekers for a variety of career and employment-related needs. Nearly 2,400 American Job Centers are located throughout the United States.

The American Job Centers in Delaware are located in Georgetown, Dover, Newark and Wilmington. Delaware Job Link at joblink.delaware.gov is a web-based online network system that provides access for both employers and job seekers to a full range of workforce information.

American Job Centers provide free services including one-on-one resume writing, interview skills, and other job preparation assistance; workshops with topics from resume writing to employer expectations; and training and education. Many have connections to local community colleges and training centers.

Specialized staff assist veterans at American Job Centers by providing job search, job placement when possible, and related assistance.
