CAMP Rehoboth Chorus will present I Hear America Singing in performances set for 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20, and 3 p.m., Sunday, June 21, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.
Taking inspiration from Walt Whitman’s poem of the same name, the concert celebrates America’s democratic genius and inclusivity, where people of different occupations, genders, regions and backgrounds contribute to the nation’s vitality.
“The concept grew beyond simple flag-waving,” said Doug Yetter, artistic director. “We wanted to explore the real foundations of our country – immigration, civil rights, the environment and the conflicts that have shaped who we are.”
Yetter said the songs and music in this concert focus on the dreams and struggles of all Americans in their journey of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
