Cathy and Ed Tessein of Lewes recently set off on a 16‑day Amtrak adventure that crisscrossed the country with stops at three national parks and several major cities. From sweeping views to small‑town charm, every leg of the journey brought something new – and they capped it off with a visit to the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The best surprises came along the rails. At every Amtrak dinner, Frankie and Louie’s buttercakes were served, quickly becoming the dining car favorite. And for a perfect touch of hometown flair, the Cape Gazette they carried featured a front‑page photo of a Lewes local who had appeared on “The Price Is Right,” giving their cross‑country ride a fun dose of Delaware pride. From national parks to presidential history – with buttercakes and Lewes fame along for the ride – the Tesseins’ trip was sweet from start to finish.
