Predicted rain held off and thousands of people lined Rehoboth Avenue for the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company’s annual Rehoboth Beach Hometown Christmas Parade. The Dec. 6 parade featured four high school marching bands, fire apparatus from a number of local volunteer fire departments, and dozens of floats from businesses and local civic organizations.
Unlike years past, there was no judging of the floats this year. RBVFC Chief Chuck Snyder said some people had complained the parade was taking too long because people were stopping to perform for the judges, creating a backlog. It’s just about people having fun, he said.
Immediately following the parade, RBVFC auxiliary members handed out cookies, while Santa and Mrs. Claus set up shop in the fire hall to hear what all the good boys and girls wanted for Christmas.
