RAL Outdoor Show celebrating 46 years

Jack Lingo Realtor underwriting annual event Aug. 3-4, 10-11
August 1, 2019

Now in its 46th year, the Rehoboth Art League’s Outdoor Fine Art & Fine Craft Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3 and 4, and Aug. 10 and 11. The show will be underwritten by Jack Lingo  Realtor,  a proud RAL supporter for five generations.

Since 1973, the outdoor art show has been held on the art league’s historic grounds in Henlopen Acres. It started simply, with many artists showcasing their work on  snow  fences around the property. Several of the art league’s most noted artists, including Jack Lewis and Howard Schroeder, were annual participants. Numerous local and regional artists will be on campus this year with their works, and some artists will come from as far away as Florida, Georgia, Vermont, Tennessee, and California.

“We are pleased to be the event underwriter for the Rehoboth Art League’s Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show,” said Bryce Lingo, associate broker and vice president of Jack Lingo Realtor.  “It’s a unique  opportunity  to see neighbors and visitors to the Coastal Delaware region join through art and culture. The Lingo family and the many people who work with us all have a strong passion for the arts and giving back to the community,  aligning  with our overall goal and mission of Give Where You Live.”

Beyond the  innovative  artwork on display, which this year includes photography, painting, ceramics, wood, metal, fiber art, and more, the show  offers attendees live music, artwork demos, and children’s activities. Indoor and outdoor seating will let guests enjoy delicious food from The Point  and Chesapeake & Maine, and beverages courtesy of Dogfish Head Brewery.

Also on display is the art league’s 81st Annual Members’ Fine Art Show, representing the work of dozens of member artists, and Ethereal Ireland – works by Beth Trepper. RAL will have memorabilia for sale, including branded totes and water bottles, and the Homestead docents will offer RAL items and artwork donated by the outdoor show artists to raise funds for the historic Peter Marsh Homestead.

RAL provides complimentary transportation to the event with Jolly Trolley shuttles, which make stops at the  Route 1  Fresh Market  and the Rehoboth Beach Plaza/Bay Mart parking lots, located just behind Bin 66 on the Forgotten Mile between Rehoboth and Dewey.

Patrons at this year’s show will have a chance to win an original painting by Martha Spak, a self-taught artist and photographer best known for her ethereal landscape paintings. Her inspiration comes from everywhere – a vivid sunset, tranquil water, a beautiful keepsake from traveling or a family heirloom. Spak  paints  in oils  and acrylics,  building  the surface with layers of thin, translucent glazes to create atmosphere.  She recently had a museum exhibition focusing on water and landscape scenes in the Mid-Atlantic area. In 2017, she opened the Martha Spak Gallery in Washington, D.C., where she exhibits her work and that of other local artists. Spak is also an art speaker and instructor.

Spak’s painting, “Evening Walk Seascape,” will be on display in the Corkran Gallery during the outdoor show. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane, Henlopen Acres, and the winning ticket will be drawn at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11. To be eligible, ticket holders must be 18 years or older and include phone number, address, email and name on each ticket. The winner does not need to be present at the time of the drawing.
