Ralph James Giangreco, retired postmaster

Ralph James Giangreco, 69, of Ocean View, formerly of Lancaster, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 10, 2019, at his home.

Ralph was born in Lancaster, Jan. 18, 1950.  He graduated from Lancaster Catholic High in 1967, went to Steubenville University for one year then went in the Navy in 1968 until 1973.  After his discharge, he went to Millersville University for one year and started his career at the U.S. Post Office in Lancaster.

He transferred to the Salisbury Post Office in 1990, and eventually became the postmaster in Snow Hill, Mdd., for four years. He was then transferred to the Dagsboro Post Office, where he also served as the postmaster until he retired in 2005.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Giangreco and Gilda (Sabatini) Giangreco; and his father-in-law, Francis Sullivan. 

Ralph is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fay V. (Sullivan) Giangreco; one son, Brian Caldwell, and two grandsons, Shane and Brandon, all of Ocean View. Ralph is also survived by a brother-in-law, Mike Sullivan and his sons, Ryan and Justin; a sister-in-law Patty Sullivan and her daughter, Danielle (Sullivan) Nipper and her husband, Keith; and Ralph’s mother-in-law, Fay Sullivan of Bethany Beach.

A service will be held at the Ocean View VFW 7234, 29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View, Friday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m., of which he is a lifetime member.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ralph’s name to VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, DE at the above address.
