Random act of kindness in Rehoboth

May 4, 2021

As I was driving on Henlopen Avenue, I stopped for a brief moment to look at the cemetery there. While stopped, a young man approached me and informed me that my right brake-light was not functioning.

I thanked the young man, and as I began to drive west on Rehoboth Avenue, I thought to myself how very kind and considerate this individual was to me. My point is that this male was so very kind to inform me that my right rear light was out.  He must have been my guardian angel, because with the current climate that we are presently seeing in our country. Interesting, he was a Caucasian male and I’m African American. This individual saw something, and did something to protect me from potentially becoming another unwanted and ugly situation in our country.

It reconfirms in me that despite the ugliness in the country, there are still good, kind and thoughtful people among us. Thank you, whoever you are, for reassuring me that kindness and the spirit of humanity still prevail in our country.
