Readers appalled at publishing Gladden letter

January 15, 2021

Two days after a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol shouting threats against America’s elected leaders, here comes the Cape Gazette with a letter from John Gladden of Georgetown suggesting “anyone who tries to fix a presidential election should be put up against the wall and shot.” We desperately hope we are not the only readers to express our disgust at not only Gladden’s reprehensible assertion, but also the Cape Gazette’s flummoxing decision to print it.

We’re assuming someone reads these things before they see the light of day; perhaps your letters editor should be re-assigned to covering high school sports, or someplace else where they will do less damage.
