Rebecca W. Dodd, retired principal

Rebecca W. Dodd, 94, of Georgetown passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, at her residence.  She was born in Winchester, Va., March 11, 1926, daughter of the late Philip and Rebecca (Paxton) Williams. 

Mrs. Dodd began her 21-year career in 1959 as an elementary education teacher. After receiving her master’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1969, she moved into administration with positions as principal at the Richard Allen School, Frankford Elementary School and Georgetown Elementary School, from which she retired.

Following retirement, one could always find her working in the garden around her flowers and vegetables.

Mrs. Dodd is survived by her husband, Ronald F. Dodd; her son, William V. Ehrlich Jr. and his husband Ken of Rehoboth Beach; her sisters: Sarah of Harrisonburg, Va., and  Margaret of  Dallas, Texas; her brother, William of Alexandria, Va.; and her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the graveside services at St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery will be private.  A public celebration of her life will be held at some point in the future.
