‘Sacks: His Own Life’ opens at Cinema Art Theatre Oct. 2

September 30, 2020

Starting Friday, Oct. 2, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Oliver Sacks: His Own Life,” a fascinating documentary that explores the remarkable life of a legendary neurologist who redefined understanding of the mind and brain.

A month after receiving a fatal cancer diagnosis in January 2015, beloved doctor Oliver Sacks sat down for a series of filmed interviews in his apartment in New York City. For eighty hours with notebooks from six decades of thinking and writing about the brain and surrounded by family, close friends, colleagues and patients, he talked about his life and work. He discussed his abiding sense of wonder at the natural world and the place of human beings within it. A moving portrait of a man taking deep stock of his life with great satisfaction and verve.

Screening times are 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2; 3 and 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3; 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4; 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7; and 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8. Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online at rehobothfilm.com.
