Rehoboth Beach Main Street, UD students to survey Rehoboth businesses Oct. 21
Students from the University of Delaware School of Policy and Administration will survey City of Rehoboth Beach businesses Sunday, Oct. 21, beginning at 11 a.m., as part of a Rehoboth Beach Main Street Economic Vitality Committee initiative. Survey data will be shared with city leadership and downtown businesses, and will be used as a resource for future vision implementation and business development. Participation is highly encouraged.
According to Rehoboth Beach Main Street board member Ryan Schwamberger, the students are enrolled in the UD Contemporary Policy Issues, Public Policy Senior Capstone Course with professor Jonathan B. Justice, PhD. They have been working closely with Karen Falk, RBMS executive director, with appointments at the UD Newark campus, conference calls and FaceTime meetings with members of the committee, and a recent site visit to downtown Rehoboth Beach.
“This survey opportunity became available to RBMS in early summer 2018,” said Schwamberger. “The UD class commenced Aug. 4, and students have completed research to compile bullet point questions related to conducting business in the downtown commercial district. Question topics will range from downtown business economy to tourism trends, and the students look forward to receiving feedback from business owners and managers Oct. 21. They will be easily identifiable, wearing white shirts with the RBMS logo and a ‘UD Student Survey’ header. Success from this survey will help economic vitality within the city, and be reflected within their final grades, so participation is highly appreciated.”
This will be the first of three surveys from the UD Contemporary Policy Issues, Public Policy Senior Capstone Course. Two more surveys will be planned in 2019, and will focus on residents and visitors to the City of Rehoboth Beach.
