Rehoboth library summer reading program kickoff party set June 17

June 9, 2019

It’s time for the Rehoboth Beach Public Library’s annual summer reading program.

This year, readers are blasting off to explore A Universe of Stories. To register to keep track of how many hours they read throughout the summer, families can go to www.rehobothlibrary.beanstack.org. Children who complete 10 or more hours of reading will be invited to the end-of-summer party in Grove Park. They can also receive raffle tickets for every library event they attend and every 10 hours they read.

The summer reading kickoff party for families will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, June 17. Delaware AeroSpace Education Foundation representatives will visit the library and have a variety of space-themed activities set up. Attendees will celebrate space education and the historic landing of Apollo 11 on the moon.

Adults can join the fun too! Every time adults visit the library to check out an item or attend an event, they can receive a raffle ticket at the front desk. Each week will feature a different prize from local restaurants and spas in Rehoboth.

In addition to regular programs, the library will host several recurring events throughout the summer. From 2 to 4 p.m., Mondays, the upstairs meeting room will be turned into a retro game lounge. All ages are welcome to play old-school video games and board games. Tweens and teens are encouraged to attend the new ARC Book Club, where they will read and review books that have not yet been published.

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library is at 226 Rehoboth Ave. For more information, call 302-227-8044 or email rehobothbeach.library@lib.de.us. All programs are free of charge.
