A 57-year- old Rehoboth Beach man faces vehicular assault charges after police say he was driving drunk and caused a three-car crash May 22.

John C. Glenstrup was driving a 2007 Acura at 8:41 p.m. northbound on Route 1 south of Lighthouse Plaza Boulevard when he failed to stop and rear-ended a 2006 Honda CRV stopped in the center lane, said Senior Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police.

The Honda then rear-ended a 2019 Ford F250 stopped in front of it and driven by a Lewes woman, 43. All three vehicles were disabled in the center lane of Route 1, Pepper said.

The driver of the Honda, a Milton woman, 23, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. A male passenger, 22, of Lewes was not injured.

Glenstrup was not injured, and police determined he was under the influence of alcohol, Pepper said. He was charged with felony second-degree vehicular assault and driving under the influence. He was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
