Rehoboth, Shields and Love Creek schools commended

Schools receive surprise visits from Dr. Susan Bunting, Delaware Department of Education secretary
January 19, 2019

Students and staff at Rehoboth, Shields and Love Creek elementary schools all received surprise visits Jan. 11 from Dr. Susan Bunting, Delaware Department of Education secretary. On behalf of the department, she presented each school with an Exceeding Expectations banner.

The schools earned some of the highest ratings in Delaware’s new school accountability system. A total of 45 schools exceed expectations. In all, 213 schools received accountability ratings.

The Delaware School Success Framework is a statewide system used for measuring how schools perform in key areas.

Bunting said, “The DSSF provides important information to help families, educators and community members understand how their schools are performing, and in which areas they are excelling or need more support. Administrators and policy makers alike can use this information to learn from our schools’ successes and to better direct resources where they are most needed.”

“We’re very proud of the hard work and dedication both our staff and students put forth every day in the classroom,” said Jenny Nauman, Cape Henlopen School District assistant superintendent. “To have Dr. Bunting visit three of our schools and recognize this hard work is an honor and a privilege.”
