After not opening until well into the summer last year, Rehoboth Beach’s Funland will return to its traditional Mother’s Day weekend opening. The Boardwalk-facing amusement park issued a press release April 2 announcing the opening.

“The safety of our employees, guests and community is our family’s top priority and has been since 1962,” said family member Fiona Curry.

The press release said the amusement park will begin the 2021 season with the same COVID-19 precautions implemented in 2020. Precautions include limiting the number of guests in the park at any one time through an online booking system, enhanced sanitation and cleaning, hand sanitizer stations at the entrance of each ride as well as throughout the park, and mandatory face coverings for guests age 3 and older.

“This will ensure that our guests feel safe visiting Funland, while keeping the fun and tradition at the forefront of what we do,” said Curry, adding that it is important to reserve everyone’s Funland RIDEPASS before arriving at Funland.

Curry said Funland’s May dates will be released April 8, with additional booking options for the remainder of the summer opening shortly thereafter. For further details about operations this year, and to book a RIDEPASS, go to funlandrehoboth.com.

In addition to rides, Funland will have more midway and arcade games available to play in 2021. These will be accessible from the Boardwalk and can be enjoyed without having to purchase a Funland RIDEPASS.

“Funland may look a little different again this year, but our family and staff are committed to providing clean, safe, family fun for all of our guests,” said Curry. “Our family wants to deeply thank our loyal customers and the Rehoboth community for the support and encouragement we have received over the past year. Each season, we look forward to the new memories we make together at Funland.”
