A response to Mabry on Rehoboth Main Street

August 6, 2019

This is in response to Donna Mabry’s letter to the editor in the Aug. 2 Cape Gazette.

As a member of the executive committee of Rehoboth Beach Main Street, I can assure Ms. Mabry that the “certain candidate” she is referring to has done nothing unethical in his city commissioner’s campaign.

Edward Chrzanowski has not used his position in our volunteer organization to further his campaign.  He has used the knowledge he has gained from being a board member of RBMS to help gauge the needs of everyone in the city of Rehoboth Beach - residents, businesses, commercial property owners and visitors alike.  As president of RBMS, Edward has worked hard to bridge the gap between all interested stakeholders in the city of Rehoboth Beach.

While supporting our local businesses is part of what RBMS does, the organization is not exclusive to business owners.  RBMS is dedicated to helping make Rehoboth great for everyone - home owners, business owners, property owners and visitors. Any businesses or residents who have chosen to support Edward in his campaign have done so because they know of his dedication to the community as a whole, not because of any influence from our organization.  Business owners are not prohibited from choosing to support candidates they feel will advocate best for their needs.

Should Edward be elected, our board (made up of residents and business and property owners), will make an appropriate decision regarding his involvement in our organization.

Everyone in Rehoboth Beach should continue to support RBMS in our stated mission of “promoting downtown Rehoboth Beach as a year-round beach town with a vibrant commercial area, attractive signage and storefronts, a full calendar of events, and economic programs benefiting the business and residential community.”

Ms. Mabry, if you’d like to see firsthand what RBMS is accomplishing, our board meetings are open to the public, and we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers!
