Restaurants shouldn’t offer disposable utensils

May 29, 2020

Eateries and food delivery apps are causing an increase in waste that is catastrophic to our environment.

We do not have to use paper tablecloths, plastic utensils, cups to be safe from germs.  I bring my own water bottle into restaurants. Will also bring my own plate to any place possible, including friends who do use disposables.

During a bike ride on Junction & Breakwater Trail I saw a few disposable masks lying on ground, which is normally very clean from litter.  I saw this again on a trail in New Castle in Rittenhouse Park.  I made masks, which are washable, due to being a sewer, but at least these are washable.  Nobody wants to leave them on ground, like the disposables.

From now on I refuse to eat in any restaurant that is using disposables.

If you business owners take this message seriously and want to make a change for the better, at least consider a tiny discount for the customers concerned about where all the trash you make is going.  We can bring our own cups, etc.
