Revival House to go anti-Valentine’s Day with ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Feb. 21

February 13, 2019

The Revival House has the antidote to Valentine’s Day marketing madness with a screening of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Milton Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Attendees can forgo the crappy candy, flowers and impulse-buy items that are thrust upon everyone at the checkout counters this time of year and settle in for a meditative, thoughtful, provocative look at love unlike any other as Revival House celebrates the 15th anniversary of this uncompromising, visionary film.

Jim Carrey stars as Joel, a sullen, lonely man pining after a breakup. He encounters Clementine, played by Kate Winslet. After a rocky split, Clementine decides to undergo a procedure in which she can erase all memories of Joel from her mind. When Joel realizes this, he decides to undergo the same procedure, but soon regrets taking away all the memories of the woman he once loved.

For all those who are made to feel incomplete for not having a companion for Feb. 14, for those who wish to swipe away bad relationships of the past, or for those who just enjoy a truly unique cinematic story of love and all that comes with it, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” is the perfect mental cleanser.

The Milton Theater will serve more than 15 varieties of beers, seven wines, various soft drinks and plenty of snacks, with not one Whitman’s Sampler box to be found.

Tickets are $10, or $5 for students and seniors.
