Richard D. Clausen, proud veteran

Richard D. Clausen, 91, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at his home. He was born Monday, Feb. 15, 1926, in Elizabethtown, Pa., son of the late Harry K. and Ruth M. (Shissler) Clausen.

Mr. Clausen made his career in manufacturing as a tool and die maker. He was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Clausen was a past president of the Lancaster Lions Club, a member of Rehoboth Beach Lions Club, the South Penn Railroad Club of Lancaster, Pa., Senior Host USO, and both the American Legion and VFW of Rehoboth Beach. He had many, varied interests, but none more so than the cherished time spent with his treasured family. Mr. Clausen was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be genuinely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.

Mr. Clausen is survived by his beloved wife, Claire Clausen of Rehoboth Beach; his son, Richard T. Clausen (Denise) of York, Pa.; his grandchildren: Tara Jones (Adam), Alison Clemmens (Matt), Kenton Clausen (Alexandra) and Eric Began (Sheryl); and his four great-grandchildren.

A Chapel Committal Service will be held Friday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Clausen's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
