January 13, 2021

Richard Hughes, 72, passed away recently while he was visiting Florida.

Richard was a resident of Milton, where he had many beloved friends. He was born, raised and worked most of his life in New Jersey until he retired. He was a renowned, celebrated hair stylist, an entrepreneur and extremely witty.

Richard was sadly predeceased by his loving husband, Donald.

Richard was born in Newark, N.J., Aug. 13, 1948, to Reme and Frank Hughes. He was the second son in a family of six children, including Frank Jr., Diana Kemp, Patricia Keim, Kathleen Warga and Manuel Hughes. They were a large, close, loving family. Along with his siblings’ spouses, Richard had 10 nephews and nieces who all loved their fun-loving Uncle Richie. Richard had a professional family whom he considered his family as well; his colleagues and clients were his work siblings, whom he adored; Richard kept them laughing and happy with his mischievous nature and big personality.

Richard loved his dogs and spoiled them. He loved traveling and beautiful things. He was a compassionate, special person with a generous heart. He will be greatly missed.

At Richard’s request, there will be no funeral service. His ashes will be joined with Donald’s and scattered together.
