Richard J. ‘Rich’ Williams Jr., enjoyed sports

Richard J. “Rich” Williams Jr., 50, of Smyrna passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Born in Wilmington Nov. 10, 1970, he was a son of Josephine Williams of Rehoboth Beach and Richard (Mary Ann) Williams of Middletown. Rich grew up in the Stratford community of New Castle, graduated from Our Lady of Fatima Parochial School, and attended William Penn High School. He enjoyed watching sports and horse races. Rich also took pleasure in visiting the local casinos. Rich was loved very much and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Williams Lynch in 2017; grandparents, Janet C. Williams and Harry and Katherine Hudson; aunts, Kathleen Tharby and Betty Hudson; uncle, Ronald Hudson; and cousins, Michael MedKeff Jr. and Kevin Hudson. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Mark Williams of Townsend; uncle, Harry “Bobby” Hudson of Lewes; niece, Donna Lynch (Chad) of Lincoln; nephews, Ricky Lynch (Theresa) of Milton and Nick Lynch (Hanna) of Lewes; great-niece, Juliana; and great-nephews, Christopher and Colton.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 until 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main St., Middletown, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rich’s memory to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, 1235 South Clark St., Suite 305, Arlington, VA 22202.
