Roadside litter an embarrassing dilemma

February 27, 2020

I believe it is well-documented that our friends and neighbors here in Sussex County decry the growing signs of litter along our roadways and in our fields. Why hasn’t more been done to stop it from taking place, and clean it up?

This past weekend, my wife and I had cause to travel to Wilmington. Examining the debris along the roadways, in the fields, and in the median strips made me feel that, compared to New Castle County, Sussex County is more like Disney World!  It is disgusting and embarrassing the level to which our congressional delegation, our current administration, and the members of our General Assembly have allowed our beautiful state to slip. They travel Route 13 just as I do; they can see the mess just as I do.

Do they not care about how visitors, much less our citizens, view our grounds?

Hopefully, someone in position will take note and take action before our First State falls into the abyss of a third world country.
