Robert ‘Bob’ W. Ritter, retired pharmacist

Robert “Bob” W. Ritter, 75, of Dover passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.
He was born Nov. 6, 1946, the middle son of the late Harold V. and Florence H. Ritter. He was raised in Guttenberg, N.J.

He graduated from St. John's University in Queens, N.Y., and UNC in Chapel Hill, N.C., with degrees in pharmacy.

He’s a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service as a pharmacist. Then he continued his passion as a pharmacist throughout Kent County with Happy Harry’s, Edgehill, Walgreens, and Hometown Drugs for many more years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia M. Ritter; three daughters: Colleen M. Cabaud (Daniel), Christine R. Hogsten (Lance) and Karen M. Corbett; six grandchildren: Madison L. Hogsten, Jordyn P. Hogsten, Rylee M. Cabaud, Gavin R. Cabaud, Reese C. Corbett and Jackson R. Corbett, and two brothers: Richard P. Ritter and Harold V. Ritter Jr.

One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family whether at home in the pool, at many sporting events, in Atlantic City, N.J., or Ocean City, Md., for vacations, and celebrating holidays and special occasions together.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 30, at The Church of The Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will follow with full military honors in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at The Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Robert’s name to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
