Robert Edward Ray, loved gardening

Robert Edward Ray, 72, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. 

Robert was born in Pittsburg, Calif., to the late Norman and Mildred (Hechler) Ray. He was a member of Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 and Lewes American Legion Post 17. Robert enjoyed playing pool at the Moose and the Legion, as well as gardening. He loved growing his vegetables, and taking care of the trees and shrubbery. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Balheimer and her husband Fred; nephew, Charles Valle; in-laws, Carlos and Maria Valle; and uncle-in-law Antonio Arrascue.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carmen (Valle) Ray; daughter Linda (Troy) Zelo; brothers-in-law, Carlos Valle and Louis (Barbara) Valle; sister-in-law, Nikki Prokos; niece, Christine Valle; cousins, Gus (Nancy) Cruz, Juan (Yolanda) Lunavictoria, George (Linda) Baisley, and Joyce; and his beloved dog Daisy, who was a source of love and companionship.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5,  in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Interment will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, N.Y.
