Rotary club supports CAMP Rehoboth Music and Memory Project

September 22, 2018

The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club recently awarded $1,000 to the Music and Memory Project sponsored by CAMP Rehoboth. With its aging population on the rise, Sussex County has seen an increase in retirees suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other brain-related cognitive disorders.

The Music and Memory Project helps people in nursing homes and other care organizations find renewed meaning and connection in their lives through the gift of personalized music. People with a range of cognitive and physical challenges can benefit from this program. Music and Memory trains care professionals to use customized music playlists delivered on iPods to help tap deep memories not lost to dementia and bring people “back to life,” to converse, socialize and stay present.

Rotary's mission is to make the greater Lewes community a better place to live, work, go to school and raise a family through service and fundraising projects. The club meets at 5:15 p.m. every Monday for dinner at the Children’s Beach House in Lewes. Community-spirited individuals are invited to attend.
