The new roundabout at the intersection of Route 1 and Minos Conaway Road is nearing completion.

Despite it being paved, the Delaware Department of Transportation has extended the closure of Minos Conaway Road until Monday, Oct. 5, to give the contractor more time to complete this phase of the project.

When complete, the new road will allow southbound Route 1 drivers to reach Nassau and New roads without using a dangerous crossover.

Instead, a new road is being constructed under the Nassau Bridge to provide safer access for motorists.
