Route 1 problems must be addressed

June 18, 2019

It’s past due for all non-traffic light cross traffic on Route 1 to be blocked. This is now a heavily traveled thoroughfare where speeds upwards of 70 mph are common. Developers need to be responsible for this added traffic via an Adequate Facilities Protection Ordinance.

They need to provide the necessary infrastructure for our safety instead of them, and the special interest making the profits while we suffer the consequences.

Planning and Zoning, DelDOT and Sussex County Council need to wake up here - a moratorium on the massive development until these safety issues are addressed.

Lives are at stake here. Not the cart before the horse present philosophy.

Not one life is worth this carelessness and neglect.
