Royals down the Ravens 3-0

Delmarva Christian volleyball improves to 10-2
October 12, 2021

The Delmarva Christian volleyball team grounded the Ravens of Sussex Tech 25-7, 25-7, and 25-8 Oct. 11 in Georgetown. The Royals move to 10-2, while the Ravens fall to 4-5.

Freshman Elaina Millaway led the Royals with six kills in the match. Junior Tessa Kwiatkowski set up 10 kills, while Lily Fetterman served fives aces. Senior Sierra Troyer delivered with three aces, three kills and three digs. Junior Evelyn Jensen served three aces and roofed two blocks, along with two kills. Senior Olivia Giltner blocked three Tech kill attempts, knocked down two kills and bumped two digs. Junior Ellie Millaway served three aces and had two kills. Senior Makayla Heinrichs had an ace, bumped two digs and assisted on two kills.

“You’re always worried about a let-down after a tough match like we had with Central the other day,” said Royals coach Jim Berger. “I try to give them goals to work on and focus on during the match. I challenge them, and that takes their mind off of the score and the opponent, and puts it on what we want to work on as a team. Today, we were focused on passing the ball really low to speed up the game. We have three games this week and not a lot of practice time.”

“Our libero Kamryn Davis did a great job in the match,” said Tech coach Shannon Lord. “Middle blocker Daijah Bailey was doing a great job blocking the Royals, and our setter and captain Courtney Breneman did a great job moving the ball around and getting many aces.”

Stats are not available for the Ravens at this time.

The Royals travel to Holly Grove Wednesday, Oct. 13, while the Ravens host Laurel Tuesday, Oct. 12.
