Rylie’s Dog Days of Summer 5K brings out Beacon Buddies

Funds help support Rylie’s Smile Foundation
September 5, 2019

Rylie Maedler is a middle school rock star, the Cannabis Kid, the energy behind the bill that not only legalized medical marijuana but took away any stupid stigma, like traveling to an approved location to get your medication. Rylie is a cancer survivor. The cannabis was magic and helped her to not get nauseous, and she progressed to get better.

Rylie’s Smile Foundation is best described on her website. “Rylie’s Smile Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on bringing the smiles back to sick children and their families by helping them achieve a better quality of life. We do this through providing health education, technology devices, advocating for more treatment options for seriously sick children and supporting research of less toxic therapies. When we know better, we can do better for our children. As the foundation grows, we are looking forward to making a great impact in children’s lives globally.”

This fall Rylie will visit Hong Kong and later South Africa as a spokesperson. She’s a cute, interactive, smart child who gets a voice that is heard, and her message resonates.

Back on Lewes Beach, the fourth running of the Rylie’s Dog Days of Summer 5K and Kiddie K was held on Labor Day morning. The Beacon Middle School staff turned out in full force to support Rylie’s Smile Foundation, which helps local kids with dire diagnoses.
