Rylie’s Smile 5K attracts 79 runners and one giant rabbit

The sixth annual Rylie’s Dog Days of Summer 5K and Kiddie K attracted 79 runners, two politicians (Ernie and Pete), two therapy dogs and one giant therapy rabbit to American Legion Post 17 on Labor Day Monday. 

Mike Sewell, 52, was the overall race winner in 18:40, holding off masters champion Jeff Smith, 59, of Wilmington, N.C. 

Corey Reeves, 32, of Salisbury, Md., was sixth overall and the first woman, finishing in 21:44. 

Joanne Senft, 51, was the winner of the women’s masters race with a time of 25:27.

The Rylie’s Smile Foundation focuses on bringing back smiles to sick children and their families. Rylie and her twin brother Gavin are 15-year-old sophomores at Cape Henlopen High School.
