October 17, 2019

Sussex Strong, the Sussex County Association of Realtors Community Service Foundation, announced that this year’s Humanitarian Award will be presented to local entrepreneurs and business leaders Sal and Bette Gallo.

The award presentation will take place during the Great Gatsby Annual Gala Silent Auction Fundraiser, set for 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

Sal and Bette Gallo have been chosen by the Sussex Strong board to receive the SCAOR Community Service Foundation’s Humanitarian Award because they embody the the foundation’s generous giving spirit and values on so many levels.

Sal and Bette Gallo’s commitment to the community is visible through their generous financial contributions and personal activity in local schools, associations, charities, churches and town council meetings.

SCAOR Sussex Strong Board President Joe Della Torre said, “This couple inspires not only other realtors, but also the community at large through their involvement and investment back into Sussex County, and especially to those struggling to give their families a better quality of life.”

The Gallos have been business owners since 1979. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty began as a two-person team founded by current owners Sal and Bette Gallo. The husband-and-wife team opened their first office on Route 1 between Lewes and Rehoboth, and then opened their second office on Christian Street in Rehoboth Beach. Due to the steady growth of the company, they expanded to their current, larger locations in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Bethany Beach.

Although the Gallo firm has flourished, growing to more than 120 sales and rental associates with numerous support staff, their admirable mission statement has remained the same and continues to ring true to their commitment to making Sussex County a great place to live.

"At Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty, our goal has always been to exceed the customers’ expectations for reliable service and professional excellence in selling, buying or renting real estate," said Bette Gallo. "The support of the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices real estate network is a strong presence. The professional assistance offered by the network, coupled with our agents' knowledge and commitment to the area, makes Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty the only choice in the resort area.”

Gala co-chairs are Kristina Lingo and Robb Kimbles.

Lingo said, “The SCAOR Community Service Foundation: Sussex Strong could not be more proud to present the Annual Humanitarian Award to this amazing couple!”
