Saluting Rehoboth City Manager Sharon Lynn

January 9, 2020

As we all begin our busy year, we should take the time to thank Rehoboth Beach City Manager Sharon Lynn, who recently celebrated the sixth anniversary of moving to our city and assuming her many important duties as city manager.

Sharon’s leadership has been exemplary, guiding the city staff with the professionalism, knowledge and good judgment we saw when we hired her as city manager. We received 103 applications for the position from across the country. Working over a three-month period, the commissioners narrowed this group down to 12 qualified candidates, each of whom were interviewed in Rehoboth Beach by the mayor and commissioners. At the conclusion of these interviews, Sharon clearly stood out above all the others, and the last six years have proven that our decision was a great one for the city we love.

Sharon has been a wonderful steward of the vision, mission and values that assure we maintain the unique character of Rehoboth Beach. She has made sure that our outstanding city staff has the proper tools and resources to operate efficiently in order to provide the highest level of service to our citizens. In addition to her daily responsibilities of managing the city, over the last six years she has also been the project manager of the ocean outfall project and the building of a new city hall, each a full-time job of its own.

Her collaborative and open style of management makes everyone in Rehoboth Beach - employee, elected official, business owner, resident or visitor - feel that they are welcome and a part of the success of our city.

We are not the only people who have observed Sharon’s outstanding accomplishments. In 2018, she was honored as the City Manager of the Year by the Delaware League of Local Governments in recognition of her work. In addition, she has been an active participant in the International City/County Management Association, the leading organization of local government professionals dedicated to creating and sustaining thriving communities throughout the world.

We can all be proud that such an accomplished individual leads our city. When you see Sharon, please congratulate her and thank her for her dedication and exceptional work on behalf of all of us.

Patrick Gossett
Rehoboth Beach Commissioner, 2004-07, 2012-18
