Samuel R. Mitchell, retired farmer

Mr. Samuel R. Mitchell, 66, of Delmar, passed away in the care of his family and Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md. 

Mr. Mitchell was born in Millsboro to the late John H. Mitchell Sr. and Effie M. Dickerson Mitchell. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son who died in infancy, as well as three brothers, Arthur Warren, Kendall T. Warren and Donald Warren.

Samuel was a retired farmer for Townsends'. He was a member of the Salt Water Cowboys in Chincoteague, Va. Samuel enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He was known to be very cantankerous and opinionated, and a real character. You got it straight on - no stabbing in the back.

He is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Deborah Mowbray of Delmar; a son, Samuel R. Mitchell Jr. of Seaford; a daughter, Amy L. Mitchell of Milford; a sister, Anna Lee Hudson (Terry) of Dagsboro; two brothers, John H. Mitchell (Ruth Ann) of Dagsboro, and William Peter Warren of Louisville, La.; as well as many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Asbury United Methodist Church Community Hall, 26146 Asbury Road, Georgetown.
