March 21, 2022

A Seaford woman faces charges March 20 after police say she failed to stop for police and tried to flee after driving through a field.

Taylor Hurley, 23, was driving a Ford F-150 at 8:57 p.m. eastbound on Hardscrabble Road in the area of Shiloh Church Road when a trooper tried to stop her for speeding, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police.

She failed to stop and continued driving eastbound on Hardscrabble Road before exiting the roadway in the area of Governor Stockley Road, he said. Driving through a field, Hatchell said, the Ford struck a ditch and became disabled before Hurley got out and tried to flee on foot. Troopers chased her down and took her into custody; they found about 7.71 grams of cocaine and about 1 gram of heroin on her, he said.

The two troopers involved in the apprehension suffered minor injuries and were evaluated at an area hospital, Hatchell said.

Hurley was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4 where she was charged with possession with felony intent to distribute a controlled substance in tier 1 quantity, felony disregarding a police officer signal, resisting arrest, and other drug and traffic violations.

Hurley was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in default of $8,625 secured bond.
