Seashore 5-Mile Run a summer Sunday morning tradition

36th annual race attracts 182 runners

The 36th annual Seashore 5-Mile Run from Deauville Beach north into the trail system at Gordons Pond and back again attracted 182 runners July 15.

James Anderson, 20, of Burtonsville, Md., was the overall winner in 27:33, a 5:31 mile pace.

Martin Rodriguez was second in 29:05, followed by Adrian Spencer, 29:26; Francisco Puac, 30:08; Mike Sewell, 32:19; Paul Montini, 32:32; Ben Schreiber, 32:52; Chris Stanley, 33:00; Jon Zubrowski, 33:08; and Josh Houtkin, 34:00.

Barb Wells from Syracuse, N.Y., was the overall women’s winner in 37:01. The other top 10 women finishers were: Olivia Montini, 37:38; Samantha Perlstein, 38:02; Anne Harris, 38:20; Mardiny Ung, 38:39; Stacey Esposito, 38:53; Lauren Stargel, 39:50; Allison Sauntry, 40:09; Tonya Statler, 40:18; and Dana Wheeler, 40:25.

Notable locals: The female 10-13 division drew quite a race with Olivia Montini winning in 37:36. She was followed by Katie Kuhlman, 47:39, and Lily Noonan, 47:40. The male 10-13 division was won by Bennett Brumbley in 39:03. Mike Sewell was male masters champion in 32:19; he was followed by Paul Montini, 32:32, and Chris Stanley, 33:00. Rick Poppleton won the 65-69 in 39:05.
