Season tickets now available for Clear Space Theatre

December 8, 2018

Subscriptions for Clear Space Theatre’s 2019 season are now on sale. Included are tickets for 10 productions throughout the year, discounted by 20 percent off regular ticket prices, and the subscriber’s choice of a favorite seat and performance day to enjoy all season.

Clear Space kicks off the year with “The Graduate,” that classic tale of youthful angst and romantic (mis)adventure opening Friday, Jan. 25, followed by “The Music Man” in March, “Into the Woods” in May, and “Night Mother, opening Friday, May 31, featuring Elaine Faye and Sydney Gray.

As summer arrives, so does Clear Space’s popular summer theatre repertory season, this year featuring “Mamma Mia” opening Tuesday, June 25; “Hello Dolly” opening Friday, June 28; and “The Wedding Singer,” opening Wednesday, July 3. Just as the beach crowd begins to pack up its umbrellas, and the parking meters disappear, Clear Space will entertain with a full slate of fall productions: “Three Tall Women” will open Friday, Sept. 20; “Ghost, the Musical,” will open Friday Oct. 18; and “A Christmas Story” will open Friday, Nov. 29.

Tickets discounted by 20 percent also are available, by separate subscription, for 2019’s Spotlight on Young Performers productions: “The Addams Family” opens Friday, April 12, and “James and the Giant Peach” opens Friday, Nov. 8. Produced through Clear Space’s Performing Arts Institute, each of these shows is the culmination of a semester’s work done by the students chosen (by audition) to participate in the Spotlight program.

Annually, Clear Space commits to producing a show which focuses attention on an important social issue. In 2019, the theatre is collaborating with the Fund for Women to produce “The Women,” Friday and Saturday, March 2-3. Full price tickets for the show may be purchased along with season subscriptions; tickets also will be available later for separate purchase.

Says David Button, Clear Space Theatre’s artistic director, “The 2019 season so clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing a broad range of live theatre at the beach - theatre which exemplifies both integrity and risk. We have classics like ‘The Music Man’ and ‘Hello Dolly;’ crowd-pleasers like ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘A Christmas Story;’ the edgy drama of ‘Night, Mother,’ and ‘Three Tall Women;’ and the lyrical - haunting - “Ghost: the Musical.” Meanwhile, the next generation of actors - our Spotlight on Young Performers - will prepare productions of ‘The Addams Family’ and “James and the Giant Peach.’ It’s a terrific season - our 2019 audiences are in for a real treat!”

Wesley Paulson, executive director of Clear Space, said, “We are very excited about our 2019 season. We love providing wonderfully entertaining theatre - but we also love providing theatre which is thought-provoking and that resonates deeply with our audiences. We are privileged to be able to do both in 2019.”
