All performances to be held at Milford High School
January 22, 2019

Second Street Players will present “To Kill A Mockingbird,” dramatized by Christopher Sergel from the book by Harper Lee. Performance dates are Friday to Sunday, Feb. 1 to 3 and 8 to 10. Curtain is at 7 p.m. for Friday and Saturday shows, and 2 p.m. for Sunday shows. All performances will be held at Milford High School, due to renovations at the Riverfront Theater.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” was first published in 1960. The novel by Harper Lee was immediately successful, winning the Pulitzer Prize, and has since become a classic of modern American literature. The plot and characters are loosely based on the author's observations of her family and neighbors, as well as on an event that occurred near her hometown in 1936, when she was 10 years old.

Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of the novel has become the definitive treatment of the original work and is widely performed all over the world. The story is renowned for its warmth and humor, despite dealing with the serious issues of rape and racial inequality.

The narrator's father, Atticus Finch, has served as a moral hero for many readers and as a model of integrity for lawyers.

Directors Diane Counts, Tammy Crawford and Steven Dow bring this classic story to the Milford High School stage with a cast of talented actors from all across the Delmarva Peninsula.

From the moment the story starts all the way to the end, this emotional rollercoaster will transport audiences back to a time where hate overpowered love.

Tickets are $17. To purchase tickets, go to www.brownpapertickets.com or call 800-838-3006. For more information, go to www.secondstreetplayers.com.
