August 13, 2018

The Jefferson Awards will host a local community service event promoting this year’s LEAD360 winning project, Buckets of Love, at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15, at in the cafeteria at Sussex Technical High School.

Buckets of Love is the Jefferson Awards national winning project for this year’s LEAD360 Challenge and was created by two sisters, Reagan and Payton Garnsey, from Dover. Their project serves to comfort children who are facing difficult times by providing them with a bucket full of toys, games, art supplies, healthy snacks and stuffed animals.

To date, there have been more than 1,600 buckets donated nationally and over 600 locally in Delaware. The buckets packed at this event will be donated to the Georgetown Boys & Girls Club and First State Community Action Agency of Georgetown. Both organizations will be on hand to receive their donations.

Members of the community and media are invited to attend the event, bring any donations, and help pack over 100 buckets alongside the Buckets of Love founders and other local volunteers.
