Shirley Wick Snyder, faithful church member

Shirley Wick Snyder, 88, of Lewes passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born June 5, 1931, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., daughter of the late Edwin Charles and Margaret Montgomery (Wagner) Wick.

Mrs. Snyder worked for Garnet Valley School District as a cafeteria worker for more than 25 dedicated years and eventually retired as a supervisor.  She was a faithful, former member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Concord, Pa., and St. Gile's Episcopal Church in Upper Darby, Pa., and most recently, a member of  All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach and St. George's Chapel in Harbeson.  Her interests were many and varied, and included gardening, cooking, attending church and singing in its choir, and going to the beach.  Above all, Mrs. Snyder cherished time with those she held most dear.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Snyder;  her grandson, Jason T. Snyder;  and her sister, Jean DeFarges.  She is survived by her sons:  Thomas J. Snyder Jr. (Liliana) of Boston, Mass., Bruce W. Snyder (Sharon) of Claymont and Mark R. Snyder (Lauren) of Garnet Valley; her daughter, Jean S. Green (William) of Cochranville, Pa.; her grandchildren:  Jonathan W. Snyder (Robin) of Londonderry, N.H., Bruce W. Snyder Jr. of Claymont, Michael T. Green of Cochranville, Pa., Christopher W. Green (Becky) of Port Deposit, Md., Justin M. Snyder (Jennifer) of Washington, D.C., Nicholas I. Snyder of Boston, Christine A. Snyder of Claymont, Jamie L. Snyder of Colonial Heights, Va., and Lindsay M. Green of Cochranville;  and her great-grandchildren:  Jordan T. Roane, Jason T. Roane, Jackson T. Snyder, Madisyn S. Snyder, Charlotte V. Snyder, Natalie G. Snyder, and Marley A. Green.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be held at a later date at St. George's Chapel, Harbeson.  Arrangements are being handled by Watson-Yates Funeral Home and Crematorium, a member of the Parsell Funeral Family, Seaford.
