On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles lost a very close game to the New Orleans Saints with the score of 20-14. The Eagles got off to a great start, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, giving all the Eagles fans great hopes.
But the play that changed everything was a clever fake punt by the Saints on the Saints’ half of the field. That play seemed to put the spark back into the Saints, to remind the Eagles who was the number one seed.
From that point forward, right up until the very end of the game, no one completely dominated the game. The Eagles had their chance on the last drive but it wasn't to be. It would have been so awesome if that last play had gone the Eagles’ way, but I wasn’t as disappointed as I thought I would be because of the topsy-turvy nature of the season.
Who would’ve even thought they would get as far as they did with a four and six record at mid-season? To make it all the way to the second round of the playoffs was its own surprise.
In order for the Eagles to have a good season next year, Carson Wentz will have to return at 100 percent healthy from his injuries. The defense needs to continue to get better in the secondary positions. There's a lot that will remain to be seen, come July when it all starts up again.
I will be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl from now on because of their Eagles connection, with Andy Reid as a former head coach. Go Chiefs.
Moving on, I am getting frustrated with the Phillies for not making a decision on who to sign as their big free agent. It could be either Manny Machado or Bryce Harper. The Phillies’ organization has been talking about this ever since the season was over. What on earth are they waiting for, with only a month before spring training starts?!
