Sign up by Aug. 15 to volunteer for wounded veterans event

Operation Seas the Day set Sept. 3-8

The 7th Annual Operation Seas the Day will will bring 32 wounded veterans and their families to Bethany Beach for a week of rest and relaxation from Tuesday to Sunday, Sept. 3 to 8. Organizers hope this community-based gesture of support will offer comfort and help ease their transition back into civilian life.

Operation Seas the Day will open its volunteer website from Monday, July 15 to Thursday, Aug. 15. To review the 2019 volunteer needs and complete the signup sheet, go to www.operationseastheday.org.

All requests will be reviewed. Feedback will be given after Aug. 5. Community involvement makes Operation Seas the Day possible for deserving veterans and their families.

Volunteers are needed to deliver water to various activities; assist with stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking; help families board and return from boating trips; organize and pack food bags; transport packed food bags to South Coastal Library on Labor Day; set up and break down chairs and tables for events; sell merchandise at various locations; help at the motorcade Friday, Sept. 6; greet attendees on bus and follow checklist for Fort Miles excursion; coordinate poster pal activities; assist with media; and help with other activities as needs arise.
