Sipped Away Coffee, a mobile coffee trailer, opened to the public July 22. Founder Lauren Sinibaldi hopes to add a creative spin to regular lattes and traditional coffees with fun flavors and signature drinks.
Originally from Williamsport, Pa., Sinibaldi is familiar with the joys that come with living in a coastal community from when she vacationed in Lewes every summer as a child. When asked what her favorite part about eastern Sussex County was, she replied, “Everything!”
Majoring in digital art and media design at Pennsylvania State University, Sinibaldi has always been creative. Sipped Away brings in coastal vibes with a pastel blue and yellow color scheme, perfectly fitting into the aesthetics of the community.
Her journey with making drinks started when she worked as a barista throughout college. Previously working at a local coffee shop, Sinibaldi wanted to think outside the box when it came to creating drinks.
“I saw how fun it was to interact with all of the customers, but I wanted the creativity of doing it myself instead of using someone else’s recipes and someone else’s branding," she said.
At 1201 Savannah Road in Lewes, Sipped Away is parked directly next to Roll’n Egg Food Truck, which serves a variety of breakfast sandwiches and egg delicacies.
The menu begins with basic espressos, cold brews and lattes. Sipped Away sells its own signature lattes, which feature many unique flavor combinations, with drinks such as the Dirty Banana and Island Girl. These drinks introduce a new flavor profile to coffee drinkers who are looking to spice up their regular cup of joe.
While all the signature lattes look irresistible, Sinibaldi is particularly fond of one drink.
“My favorite is the fluffernutter," she said. "I cannot get enough of the peanut butter and coffee combination.”
For patrons interested in more than just coffee, Sipped Away offers a variety of delicious drinks: fresh lemonades, matcha, teas, dirty sodas and sippers (Sipped Away’s specialty energy drinks).
With other cafes trending on social media, Sinibaldi believes Sipped Away will stand out from the rest, even in such a competitive market.
“Sipped Away has such a vast variety of drinks and signature lattes, which is hard to come by at other local places,” she said.
