Six women overdosed on an unknown substance March 8 while at the Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown.
The overdoses were reported at 2:45 p.m. at the facility, which is located near Sussex Correctional Institution, said Jayme Gravell, spokeswoman for the Department of Correction. The women were part of a work crew, she said.
Medical and security staff administered Narcan to the women, she said, then they were treated and released by an outside hospital. Gravell said all of the women were transferred to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute in New Castle. The substance is being tested by DSP, and the results are pending, Gravell said.
