SoDel Cares donates $4K to Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation

CHEF Winter Jam fundraiser scheduled Feb. 1
January 27, 2019

SoDel Cares, the philanthropic arm of SoDel Concepts, recently donated $4,000 to the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation.

Formed in 1999, the nonprofit CHEF provides resources to help students in the Cape Henlopen School District excel and develop their full potential.

Since 2007, CHEF has funded about 200 CHSD teacher grant requests, totaling more than $250,000 in educational aid, which have addressed such issues as bullying and homelessness. Grants have also funded arts scholarships and career-focused initiatives.

“Our mission at SoDel Cares is to help people in the communities in which we do business, and CHEF’s goals are in alignment with ours,” said Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts, which has 10 restaurants in coastal Sussex County as well as catering and hospitality management divisions.

“CHEF is doing excellent work with students who are our neighbors and who need our help to be successful in school and at home. It truly enriches our community,” he said.

CHEF’s annual Winter Jam fundraiser will be held from 7 to 11 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach. For more information, go to www.chef-cape.org/winter-jam and www.sodelconcepts.com.
