SoDel Concepts employees win awards from Coastal Style

August 5, 2017

Emily Aisquith and Kaya White, employees with SoDel Concepts, recently won accolades as a result of Coastal Style magazine's annual readers poll. Aisquith received Best Server in Sussex County honors, and White was named Best Bartender in Sussex County.

"We appreciate that the readers of Coastal Style have noticed how hard our team members work to create a memorable guest experience," said Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts. "We agree that Emily and Kaya are exemplary and exceptional. They go above and beyond to serve our guests."

Aisquith, who was 15 when she started busing tables, has been in the business for more than 10 years, nearly three of which she's spent with SoDel Concepts. She transferred from Matt's Fish Camp in Bethany Beach to the new Bluecoast Seafood Grill + Raw Bar in Rehoboth Beach to help train the new staff by setting the example.

"I love bonding with our guests, and turning new guests into regulars," said Aisquith, who enjoys working the more relaxed lunch period. "So many of them light up my day."

Kammerer said, “ [Aisquith] is hardworking, friendly, helpful - and just nice to be around."

White, who's been in the hospitality business since she was 14, is a bartender at Papa Grande's Coastal Taqueria in Fenwick Island. She graduated from the University of Delaware in May. "I love meeting new people," said White. She plans to get a doctorate in physical therapy.

White is continually learning new skills, said Ronnie Burkle, director of operations for SoDel Concepts. "She's someone we can count on for so much."

Her dedication to the company, demonstrated by her return to the fold each summer during her college break, makes Kammerer pleased and proud. "Our goal is to help our team grow personally and professionally, whether that means they build a career with us for the long term or use the skills they developed at SoDel in another profession," he said. "Seeing them do well on whatever path they choose is the most rewarding part of my job."
