The Lodge at Truitt Homestead celebrated Pride Month June 25 with its second annual Summer Solstice on the Terrace. The event benefits the nonprofit advocacy agency CAMP Rehoboth.

Entertainment for the sold-out party was provided by Peggy Raley and the True Blue Jazz Band. Local radio host and visual artist Michael Sprouse emceed.

In addition to live entertainment, the event featured a silent auction, raffles and hors d’oeuvres. During the inaugural event in 2021, the lodge raised and donated $9,000 to CAMP. This year’s total had not been announced as of press time.

The silent auction was a huge success and everyone had an incredible time, said Barbara Dickinson, recreation and events director at The Lodge at Truitt Homestead.

There had been an end-of-the-evening sparkler show planned, but it never came to be because the sprinklers went off and got everything wet.

“Funnily enough, the one thing that was not on our checklist was to ensure the sprinklers were not scheduled to come on Saturday evening,” said Dickinson in an email June 27. “Our planned sparkler finale never had a chance to happen after that. Already noted for 2023!”
