The Southern Delaware Chorale concludes its landmark 40th season with the announcement of Amy Morgan as its newly appointed artistic director.

Bringing with her a wealth of experience in choral performance, music education and community engagement, Morgan joins the organization at an exciting moment of growth and artistic momentum.

“I am so delighted to step into the role of artistic director with the Southern Delaware Chorale, a long-standing organization with great musical aspirations,” said Morgan. “We have an exciting year ahead of us as we continue the work of making excellent music as a community. I look forward to joining forces with its many talented members, scholars and leadership team as we embark on the next chapter of SDC."

An accomplished conductor, educator and pianist, Morgan holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Salisbury University and a master’s degree in choral conducting from Messiah University. She is the founder and artistic director of Allegro Academy, a nonprofit music conservatory where she conducts a women’s chorus, children’s chorus and summer choir festival, while also serving as a piano and voice instructor.

Based in Easton, Md., Morgan has served as assistant director and accompanist for the Easton Choral Arts Society, music director of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and within the Diocese of Easton, as well as music director for Groove Theatre and Factory Arts Project. She is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association. Known for her thoughtful programming and collaborative leadership style, Morgan is passionate about helping musicians achieve their highest artistic potential.

Under the leadership of former co-directors Joey Shortall and Sarah Rose, the Southern Delaware Chorale upheld its four-decade tradition of presenting high-quality choral performances that inspire, entertain and unite the community. Chorale members extend sincere gratitude to Shortall and Rose for their years of dedicated service and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors.
